REGISTRATIONS

Welcome to the Skate for Sarah Hockey Tournament. 

When: Sunday April 15th, 2018

Where: Canlan York University (989 Murray Ross Pkwy)

How: Registration opens online on November 3rd, 2017 at www.skatefs.com


The Games

• Each team is guaranteed to play three games.

• All games will consist of three, 12-minute periods with stop time in the last minute of the third period.

• All teams must be ready to play at least 15 minutes prior to scheduled time.

• Before every game, there will be a 2-minute warm up


• Mercy Rule: If a team leads by five or more goals in the third period of the game, running time will commence and will only revert back to stop time if the spread is reduced to within five goals.

• Ties will be broken by a shoot-out by one player on each team, until a winner is declared.

• Standard non-contact rules apply.

• Only CSA-approved equipment is allowed.

• All players must wear CSA-approved helmets at all time when on the ice, and youth players under 18 must wear a full cage or full visor.

• No centre red line in all divisions (blue line icing). Automatic icing in effect.

• Players receiving three minor penalties or a game misconduct will be ejected from the game and any player receiving a match or major fighting penalty will be ejected from the tournament.

• Any game misconduct (other than a match or major fighting penalty) occurring in the last five minutes of a game will result in an additional one-game suspension.

• Minor penalties will be 1-minute in length, and a major penalty will result in an automatic penalty shot.


• Every player must register online through the Skate for Sarah website, as no registration will be accepted the day of the tournament.

• The tournament does have the right to properly balance divisions and to eject a team if they consistently exhibit inappropriate behaviour.

Eligibility and Participation

• To be eligible, your teams needs a minimum of 11 (minimum) and can have a maximum 17 (maximum).

• Adult Teams must raise a minimum of $2,500 to participate, while youth teams must raise a minimum of $1800.

• If teams do not raise the required minimum by the deadline they may not be permitted to play in the tournament. 

• If participating as an individual, the required minimum for fundraising is $180 for an adult and $100 for a youth player.


• Each player will get their own donation and support page.

• Any donations received by the Skate for Sarah up to that point will be given to the the charities. 

• Teams will be categorized by the following divisions: TBD
